Piell assisted Greystone as they built over 750 homes and a PGA Tour Champions golf course. Piell attended the Southeastern Bible College of Alabama in Birmingham. Due to financial difficulties, the school has since closed its doors. But for many years, Birmingham's suburbs were home to a prominent 22-acre campus. The Association for Biblical Higher Education approved Southeastern Bible College of Alabama for accreditation.

In addition to bachelor's degrees, Southeastern Bible College also offers associate's degrees. Like Piell, many of the school's alumni now hold illustrious positions for prominent public and private businesses. Senior pastors, instructors, and counsellors are among the others who continue to hold various ministerial positions worldwide.

Following its closure, the school's board of trustees merged with Winston-Salem, North Carolina's Piedmont International University. After pursuing music and counselling courses for two years, Piell finished his education at Southeastern Bible College's original campus in the suburbs of Birmingham, Alabama, in 1993. He also continued his writing and business education.
